Bags packed for a trip to PowerGen Asia for Proteus Environmental MD, Paul Davison

The PowerGen Asia Exhibition and Conference is probably the largest energy event in Southeast Asia, attracting visitors from more than 70 countries.  It is a highlight of the year for those in conventional and renewable energy across the region.  This year, Paul Davison, Managing Director of Proteus PR and Proteus Environmental (Hong Kong) Ltd, has been asked to deliver two presentations – one on effective energy policy and the other on public engagement and energy from waste (EfW).

Paul, a well-regarded specialist on community engagement and wastes management, will be discussing the opportunities that exist for EfW in Asia if community engagement can be delivered effectively.  There is growing interest in EfW across the region,  but some projects have been delayed or even cancelled because of community opposition.  Paul will be explaining how to avoid such problems to allow this technology and other new thermal treatment processes to be built across Asia.

Paul has also been asked to speak about the effective communications surrounding Government policy. Speaking prior to the event, Paul, says: “There is understandable interest in the growth of renewables across the region, but to ensure maximum success there needs to be a clear Government policy to encourage renewables.  Many Governments have grasped this, but their best intentions sometime break down due to a failure to also establish effective delivery by working with regional Government and encouraging public acceptance of the technology. Governments need to make sure that the public understands why they need to pay more for electricity, while also hosting the generation technology nearer to their communities.”

The PowerGen Asia conference is co-located with the Renewable Energy World conference and PowerGen Asia Financial Forum.  Taking place over three days – Tuesday 1st September to Thursday 3rd September 2015 – the event takes place at the IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Centre, Bangkok, Thailand.
